PLEASE: NO FOOD OR DRINK IN VANIER HALL AT ANY TME DURING PERFORMANCES.

What happens if there is a cancellation of a school performance?

If the performer cancels, usually they will contact you and try to reschedule. If that is not possible, your school will not be charged for the show. If a school cancels a show within 30 days of the performance and the show can not be re-scheduled, the school will be charged the full price.

What happens if students are sick and can not attend a centralized performance?

We confirm student numbers and reserve seats for them up to 2 weeks before a performance.  Unfortunately, once the seats have been set aside for your school we can no longer offer them to other schools.  This means that all  changes to attendence numbers must be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to any centralized performance.

When are the Vanier performances?

Morning performances are from 10:30 to 11:20 Afternoon performances are from 12:40 to 1:30.

Our School was charged for more than seats than we used for a performance.  Why?

Schools are charged the number of seats based on the amount that are requested prior to the performance.  This number may be different than the number of seats that you actually use on the day of the performance. Once seats are reserved for you school they are no longer available to be used by other users and so therefore your school becomes responsible for that cost.

What are the rules around Vanier performances?

BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE

  1. Use the school washrooms whether or not you think you need to!

  2. Be sure to leave all food, books, papers, pens, toys, etc. at school. Bring only yourself to the theatre.

  3. Approach the theatre quietly, in a line, two abreast.

  4. You will be met by a host or house manager who will guide your school to your seats.

  5. Take off your outside clothing before settling quietly in your seat. Please remove your hat when you enter the theatre.

  6. Speak quietly only to the persons next to you while you are waiting for the performance to begin.

  7. Do not call out or try to attract attention of persons farther away from you.

DURING THE PERFORMANCE

  1. When the Master of Ceremonies steps forward to speak, or a performer appears on the stage, all people in the audience should become silent and still.

  2. You should not leave your seat (except in emergencies) throughout the concert.

  3. If you urgently need to move from your seat (e.g. washrooms), get permission from your supervising teacher or parent.

  4. If you must move, wait for a break in the performance; for example, between songs or when a dance has ended.

  5. Applause is welcomed at appropriate times, and applause only. Whistling belongs in a sports arena.

  6. Please remember to turn off cell phones during the performance.

AT THE CONCLUSION

  1. Remain seated and still until all performers have left the stage.

  2. Remain in your seat until your supervising teacher gives you instructions to stand and follow. Exit through the double doors to the outside to catch your bus.

TO THE TEACHER

The Cultural Committee, Stage Manager and Master of Ceremonies can in no way assume responsibility for the behaviour of students brought to concerts by participating schools. We expect that supervising teachers will exert the full authority of the staff of the respective schools with students in their charge. We hope that accompanying adults will enjoy the presentations, but realize that their first responsibility is the supervision and guidance of their students. When being met by the host, please have an accurate count of the number of students attending the performance. Thank you for your consideration.
